ick by industrial kitty review

A slight break from my convention report series because I'm still waiting for photos from some people, but here's a review! Hopefully it will interest some of you.

Today I am review a pair of bloomers that I bought from Ick by IndustrialKitty. I first saw their work at Anime Central (at the Paradise Rose booth) and I was impressed by what I saw! The sewing looked good and the material quality was decent, especially for the prices. I was going to buy some bloomers while I was there, but they didn't have my size in stock so I decided to wait until I got home and could purchase online. However, I forgot about it...until just recently! They were doing a special where all of their non-flannel bloomers were $10, so I decided to take advantage of that. I really like supporting small, western brands, so I always jump on specials like these.

I got an update on their stock through their Facebook page, which I initially liked after ACEN! I bought from this listing for black bloomers, in size large, with a lace trim. I was a little confused because the photo was white, but the listing was for black ones? So I hoped that I was buying the right pair, then clicked add to cart and bought them. Since I have an Etsy account, it was a very easy and convenient transaction, but I feel that even without an account it probably still would have been easy.

I completed the purchase on August 9th, and I was quite surprised that I got the shipping notification on the same day I paid! I must have ordered early enough in the morning that the owner could ship the same day. Very quick and convenient!

I received the package today, August 14th. They shipped using USPS Priority Mail, which usually gets to the destination very quickly. I was pleased with the shipping time and the packaging!

with the addresses shopped out!
The bloomers were sent in a very standard Priority Mail envelope, nothing fancy here.

She included two postcards and a handwritten thank you note, which I think it a very nice touch! The bloomers were wrapped in red tissue paper, which doesn't give much protection, but since the shipping envelope is made of sturdy material, this isn't a problem at all in my eyes.

Then I opened the package and...

...white bloomers! Darn! In hindsight, I probably should have emailed her to ask if the listing I bought from was indeed for black bloomers, but oh well. I can always use more white bloomers. Currently the only pair I have is about 5 years old! And these still do look cute, so I really didn't mind too much.

The lace was a very simple Venice lace. Soft and pretty!

The stitching on the legs wasn't perfect, but it's definitely not noticeable when worn. There were some loose threads as well, but nothing a pair of scissors can't fix.

The label in the back was very cute! And gave the product a sense of professionalism, like I'm buying from a store instead of just from someone who likes to make things, if that makes sense? I'm not sure if it does, but I was happy when I saw the label! And you can also see here that all the seams are serged and finished nicely.

And then worn! When I opened the package, I thought they looked mighty large, but they do fit nicely. They seem a little puffy when I sit down, but no real problem there! I think they look cute on me, actually.

Overview of Ick by Industrialkitty
  • Price - 5/5. I ended up paying $16.50 for these with shipping included, which I thought was a very good price. I would gladly buy more for this same price!!
  • Communication - 5/5. I never directly communicated with her, but she did update the shipping page as soon as she sent it, which was in fact the same day that I ordered. I just wish that I had emailed her about the colour! But that's my fault.
  • Ease of Ordering - 5/5. Since Ick uses Etsy for their storefront, it was very easy to order and I felt safe and secure ordering from them.
  • Quality - 4/5. I docked a point because of the loose threads and slightly sloppy sewing of the lace on one leg. It really isn't anything terrible though, definitely not noticeable, just a little pet peeve of mine! Also I am slightly upset that I ended up getting white instead of black, but not bothered enough to email her to exchange them when I can actually use the product, it just wasn't what I expected.
  • Overall - 4.5/5. I would definitely order from Ick by Industrialkitty again! The bloomers were cute, cheap, and comfortable, so I can only assume that her other products would be good too! I will have to keep watching her webstore, and I can't wait to see some other designs by her.
